It was intended to take the piece of blue out of the bodies of the carriers who had arrived through the rift and put it into the body of one of my clones.

Its use began and ended with the first attempt.

No. Sorry. I didn't even know you all had powers before I saw them in action. It wasn't a part of the work I was doing.

When I said it was used once, I meant it was used just the once because it failed.

Did you use it on Cassian? He's my husband so legally you can tell me.

... I can answer that, though! The person I used it on is no longer with us. Their body was ... dematerialized when the attempt was made. So, if Cassian is with us (you?), he's not the person I used it on.

So you attempted to extract the blue junk with the Swiftlet and the person dematerialized and then a number of us woke up? Someone stabbed a nurse, there was fire, tremors. What is the gas you use? A neurotoxin, aerosolized anesthesia?

That's a fairly good summary. It was like I had activated a defense mechanism inside of the people I had there. A number of them died as a result of what happened. One dematerialization, others were in ... similar disarray. Further away, that's where the stabbing and the anger kicked in. Or what I perceived to be. It's not like you all were acting with emotions. It seemed like it was the god.

Before you ask: I lost ten of you that day. That's the only time any of you died because of what I did, but it was very large in scope. No, I don't know who they were. Yes, others disappeared like how you do outside of the facility. I don't know why, but I know some of you go dark and so, I assume it's the same.

And finally, it's an experimental gas at a very high dosage. Some of you can be rather large and unpredictable in your biochemistry, so it's a part of the setup we have at Project Meadowlark. We typically use it for emergencies only. Or when someone first arrives. See: unpredictable biochemistry.
